The location for National Manufacturing Week (NMW) may have changed, but the exhibition and conference focus remain squarely on the tools, solutions, and methodologies used to improve plant and enterprise performance. This year, NMW will be held near O'Hare airport at the Donald E. Stephens convention center in Rosemont, Ill. Thousands of engineers, managers, and executives are expected to attend the 250-plus sessions and workshops during the event, which runs March 20-23.
"Manufacturers face intense competition in today's global marketplace," says Ken Howard, regional VP for W.W. Grainger, a Lake Forest, Ill.-based supplier of facilities maintenance products. "Consequently, they must improve productivity and eliminate costs. Attending the show enables them to learn about IT solutions and methodologies, and then meet with the right solutions providers for demonstrations."
Keynote speakers on tap include Gilles Bouchard, executive VP of global operations for Hewlett Packard, who will present, It's About Customer Choice: Managing Multiple Routes-to-Market on a Global Scale." Bouchard's address will outline the confusing choices manufacturers face given a dizzying array of channel strategies.
NMW breaks down this way:
-
More than 1,000 suppliers—including Activeplant, Epicor Software, GE Fanuc Automation, Invensys-Wonderware, Oracle, Rockwell Software, and SYSPRO—will have exhibits at the Enterprise IT show, which targets manufacturing and supply chain operations. The Microsoft Partners pavilion, sponsored by Microsoft and located in the Enterprise IT show, will showcase demos of the latest Microsoft-compatible manufacturing applications from independent software and services providers.
-
The Industrial Automation show is oriented toward automation & control engineers, manufacturing managers, and system integrators tasked with increasing production uptime, improving accuracy, optimizing plant operations, and lowering costs through use of automation technology, systems, and solutions. Among some of the exhibitors on tap are Honeywell, Factory Intelligence Network, and Innovative Wireless Technologies
-
PTC, Solidworks, and UGS PLM Solutions will have exhibits at the Design Engineering show, attended by OEM design engineers and executives striving for rapid, innovative, and reliable product design development.
