Princeton Softech supports Oracle PeopleSoft Enterprise upgrades with best-practice database archiving

By Manufacturing Business Technology Staff -- Manufacturing Business Technology, 7/31/2007 9:40:00 AM

Princeton Softech reports general availability of Optim Version 4.5, which will provide archiving support for modules in Oracle PeopleSoft Enterprise Financial Management and PeopleSoft Enterprise Supply Chain Management Version 9.0.

This release also delivers expanded best practice database archiving support for modules in PeopleSoft Enterprise Financial Management and PeopleSoft Enterprise Supply Chain Management Versions 8.8, 8.9 and PeopleSoft Enterprise Human Capital Management (HCM) Versions 8.8 and 8.9. For sites that are actively considering PeopleSoft Enterprise upgrades, Optim's database archiving capabilities provide measurable business value for managing continued data growth and reducing the risks and costs associated with upgrade projects.

"We were impressed with Optim's capabilities and plan to archive historical transaction records prior to our next PeopleSoft Enterprise upgrade. With fewer records to convert, we are anticipating that our upgrade project will take much less time," said David Troendle, Assistant Vice Chancellor for IT at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans. "Most importantly, after the upgrade, ongoing archiving will help us manage continued data growth and improve performance service levels in the upgraded version."

Archiving historical PeopleSoft transaction records and removing them from the production environment prior to an upgrade streamlines the database. During the upgrade, only the most current data is converted and migrated to the new environment. Managing less data reduces the risk and downtime that often accompanies the testing and conversion processes during the upgrade. Migrating only active application data shortens the time needed for production cutover and maximizes the application performance benefits in the upgraded version environment.

"More companies are deciding to move forward with upgrade strategies to take advantage of the newest PeopleSoft Enterprise features and enhancements," said Tom Herrmann, Vice President, ISV Management and Programs at Oracle. "As a Certified Advantage Partner in Oracle® PartnerNetwork, Princeton Softech is committed to providing integrated database archiving capabilities that deliver business value to help ensure the success of their upgrade projects."

Release 4.5 of the Optim Solution for PeopleSoft Enterprise is the first and only solution to provide database archiving capabilities for PeopleSoft Enterprise Financial Management and PeopleSoft Enterprise Supply Chain Management Version 9.0 - General Ledger module, while expanding support for PeopleSoft Enterprise Versions 8.8 and 8.9 - Inventory and Order Management modules. This release also expands support for PeopleSoft Enterprise Recruit Workforce and PeopleSoft Enterprise Global Payroll, modules in the PeopleSoft Enterprise Human Capital Management Versions 8.8 and 8.9 suite of applications.

"This newest release of our Optim Solution for PeopleSoft Enterprise enables sites to maintain their best practices archiving and data management programs as they progress to newer PeopleSoft Enterprise versions," said Paul Winn, Chairman, CEO and President of Princeton Softech. "PeopleSoft Enterprise sites that deploy archiving as a best practice can easily sustain a Superior Ownership Experience."

"Companies that have long-term investments in ERP and CRM applications are actively considering their application deployment strategies, including upgrades," comments Kimberly Collins, Research Vice President at Gartner Research. "Companies that are committed to their investment in ERP applications should keep pace with current application functionality, while monitoring product road maps and planning upgrade paths to future application releases based on requirements."

Princeton Softech Optim scales across the entire Oracle technology stack, including the Oracle E-Business Suite and Oracle's PeopleSoft Enterprise, Oracle's JD Edwards EnterpriseOne, Oracle's Siebel and custom and packaged applications built upon Oracle databases. With access to standalone archives at every stage in the lifecycle, Optim offers Oracle sites a safe, secure path to Oracle Fusion Applications.
