Pfizer, the world's largest pharmaceutical company, will use SupplyScape's E-Pedigree data management software to enhance patient safety, secure the drug supply channel, and meet regulatory compliance requirements.
E-Pedigree enables a secure chain of custody for a prescription drug by creating an electronic record or pedigree to trace each distribution of a given drug, from the first sale by the manufacturer through final sale to a pharmacy dispensing the drug. Built on open standards, E-Pedigree is one of the first electronic-pedigree products to receive GS1 EPCglobal Drug Pedigree Messaging Standard certification status.
Pfizer's plan to implement E-Pedigree expands its channel security initiatives, which includes use of SupplyScape's product authentication solution, called RxAuthentication.
"Pfizer is taking a leading role in attacking counterfeit and diversion threats to the drug supply chain to ensure patient safety," says Shabbir Dahod, founder and chairman of SupplyScape. "By implementing electronic pedigrees and product authentication to build a cohesive product security strategy, Pfizer is closing the gaps that exist today in the pharmaceutical distribution channel."
