What actions constitute good asset management?

By Staff -- Manufacturing Business Technology, 4/1/2006 7:00:00 AM

External market forces are pressuring companies to rapidly deploy manufacturing resources to meet unpredictable demand. Good asset management lets companies optimize resource performance, avoiding shutdowns and excessive maintenance.

A new benchmark report from AberdeenGroup says the best companies are using predictive, condition-based, and smart-device technologies 40 percent more frequently than poorer performers. They also use asset performance management analytics 55 percent more than poor performers.

A well executed asset management program should improve performance from previously unavailable plant capacity. Best-in-class companies are proactively managing assets by maintaining the health and fitness of equipment before it fails to sustain performance.
