400 reasons to check out Compiere open ERP, CRM

By Manufacturing Business Technology Staff -- Manufacturing Business Technology, 8/11/2008 6:00:00 AM

Compiere reports availability of Compiere 3.1, considered a substantial update of the vendor's ERP and CRM line. With more than 400 new business analysis, functional, and technical enhancements, Compiere 3.1 is said to provide global partners with an adaptable open source business solution that lowers acquisition and deployment costs compared to proprietary technology.
“Compiere’s continued commitment to delivering robust open source ERP applications on a modern technology platform is evident in the significant improvements we deliver in Compiere 3.1,” says Don Klaiss, president and CEO.” These improvements result from working directly with our customers to build world-class open source applications that are flexible, adaptable, and easy to customize and upgrade.”
Compiere 3.1 advances customers’ ability to securely analyze business data using their choice of third-party reporting and analysis tools. The newly introduced Business View Layer enables end-users and report designers to access ERP data through Compiere’s rich application-level security controls.
Compiere 3.1 also includes new and enhanced functionality across its global financial management, purchasing, materials management, manufacturing, order management, sales and service application suite.
Additional customer-driven improvements for distribution and other industries include:

  • Support for user-defined payment schedules and payment dates;

  • Granular control over the definition and processing of invoice batches;

  • Up to five levels of precision for defining inventory locators within warehouses;

  • Simplified costing controls with new products and on-hand quantity adjustments; and

  • Hypertext data type for integration with document management systems.
