Sterling Commerce launches into China

Sterling Commerce, which offers business integration solutions, has made its official launch into mainland China and has expanded relationships with more than 15 resellers in Asia while looking to add partners to penetrate the market.

Established in Asia Pacific in 1992, Sterling Commerce built a customer base in the banking, logistics, manufacturing, and consumer packaged goods industries—including contracts with Sony Supply Chain Solutions, Bridgestone, and Sanyo Semiconductor.

"For the next 12 months, China represents the most significant market expansion for Sterling Commerce," says Sam Starr, president and CEO. "With the growth in the economy and the pressure on enterprises to become even more competitive globally, Sterling Commerce is ideally positioned to help companies in China succeed."

HP claims leadership in blade server market

Hewlett-Packard (HP) has sold more than 50,000 of its Proliant blade servers, a figure the company claims makes it the market leader in this still new hardware category.

Blade servers—which some analysts say are the fastest-selling machines in the market today—are thin machines that can fit into relatively small racks, saving space in data centers while offering the same level of computing power as traditional servers.
