PeopleSoft says its year-old drive to improve the experience of owning enterprise software is showing results. According to Ram Gupta, executive VP, changes in the design of PeopleSoft's Enterprise product allowed one customer to install a human capital management package for 25,000 users for 21-percent less than its allotted budget.
That customer also cut IT maintenance staff by 50 percent, he says. In addition, Gupta says, PeopleSoft has released integration packs that make it easier to blend its applications with other vendors' products, including those from major rivals Oracleand SAP.Overall, Gupta says, IT departments in companies that run PeopleSoft applications are fielding 32-percent fewer support calls than a year ago, and they are taking 44-percent less time to resolve those calls. Perhaps most important, Gupta says, is the total cost of owning the PeopleSoft application suite has dropped by 60 percent over the past year.
