Economic activity in the manufacturing sector declined in January for the sixth consecutive month, according to the National Association of Purchasing Management's Report on Business. Of the 20 manufacturing sectors surveyed, only "food" and "miscellaneous" (a preponderance of jewelry, toys, sporting goods, musical instruments) reported improved business in January.
