SOA approach to simulation drives business agility, reduce integration costs

By Manufacturing Business Technology Staff -- Manufacturing Business Technology, 9/7/2007 2:18:00 PM

MSC.Software, a vendor of enterprise simulation solutions, has been accepted into the IBM SOA Specialty arena after successfully completing IBM’s rigorous service-oriented architecture (SOA) technical and business requirements. With this achievement, MSC.Software’s SimManager achieves SOA Connect status, ensuring it fully integrates with IBM software and strategy for SOA.

“SOA is an increasingly important business requirement for organizations because of the business flexibility it enables,” says Sandy Carter, VP of IBM SOA and WebSphere. “MSC.Software’s commitment to SOA provides its customers with a powerful way to reduce integration costs.”

Compliance with SOA standards enables SimManager to link to all SOA-compliant data sources and applications, and allows simulation data to be easily integrated into engineering business processes. SimManager uses SOA-based Web services to capture transactions from key operational systems, and utilizes XML standards to process data and metadata.

“Working with IBM for SOA helps us provide open, flexible enterprise business infrastructure that will enable us to deliver our solutions to customers with reliability and efficiency,” says Bill Weyand, CEO, MSC.Software.
