Kronos acquires software business of SimplexGrinnell

Staff -- Manufacturing Business Technology, 2/1/2002 12:00:00 AM

Kronos, a Chelmsford, Mass.-based vendor of labor management solutions, has acquired the Integrated Software business of the Workforce Solutions Division of SimplexGrinnell in a cash purchase transaction. The division previously operated as Simplex Time Recorder Co., with headquarters in Westminster, Mass. The electromechanical portion of the Workforce Solutions Division—which includes time clocks, time stamps, and master time systems—is not part of the sale.

SimplexGrinnell's customers now will be able to access Kronos' Web-based Workforce Central and Kronos iSeries Central product suites; and Timekeeper Central, ShopTrac Pro, and Visionware solutions.

Kronos will retain SimplexGrinnell Workforce Solutions' engineering, sales, service, and support personnel who will form the nucleus of the newly created Kronos WinSTAR Group, which will operate out of Kronos' corporate campus.

According to Mark S. Ain, Kronos' chairman and CEO, "Simplex's reputation of delivering superior labor management software product and service offerings will endure as it unites with Kronos' long list of accomplishments."
