Via integration of the Enterprise Services Repository of SAP NetWeaver and ARIS business process management (BPM) technology from IDS Scheer—also available as SAP enterprise modeling applications from IDS—users can more quickly identify opportunities to meet shifting business needs.
The integration unites modeling capabilities of the ARIS product family with SAP's repository of enterprise services to create a conceptual business blueprint for enterprise service-oriented architecture (SOA).
"Services repositories play a pivotal role in organizations for the governance of a large-scale SOA," says Paolo Malinverno, VP of research for Stamford, Conn.-based Gartner. "Business-level modeling capabilities tightly integrated with the services and other reusables managed in such a repository allow much better alignment between business and IT."
IDS Scheer also now supports the OASIS SOA Reference Model used in tandem with ARIS SOA Architect, leveraging its expanded methodology for Business-Driven SOA to develop support for describing, planning, and managing services.
The new methodology, based on the OASIS SOA Reference Model, categorizes services using business criteria with a concentration on those with the greatest strategic importance. The end result is mitigation of risk within SOA projects.
