Encryption key to endpoint data protection

By Staff -- Manufacturing Business Technology, 2/1/2007 12:00:00 AM

Given the world's digital data boom, sensitive data is continuously flowing between vendors, customers, partners, and employees. A survey out of Boston-based Aberdeen Group cites leaks and the theft of computers as top sources of unauthorized information exposure. "These results back up the need for an endpoint data protection solution that can enact specific encryption policies on a per-user or per-machine basis," says Aberdeen VP Mounil Patel.

To date, more than half of the states in the U.S. have data privacy protection and security breach notification regulations. A common thread is that encrypted information remains exempt from public notification requirements and associated criminal and civil penalties. Guardian Technologies, a survey sponsor, offers a data-protection platform that supports endpoint encryption software and integration with Microsoft Active Directory. Best of all, it leverages popular identity and desktop management solutions to protect data stored on laptops, desktops, and removable media right now.
