When Baxter Healthcare Corp. implemented a manufacturing execution system (MES) at its plant in Cuernavaca, Mexico, the manufacturer of medical products was out to achieve a couple of goals. The over-riding aim of the system, says Steve Randall, a senior principal engineer with Baxter, was to gain greater efficiency and agility in carrying out quality-related processes.
