SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Microsoft Corp.'s technology is now processing all the search requests on Yahoo Inc.'s website in the U.S. and Canada, completing a long-awaited leap that creates a more formidable challenger to Google Inc. in the most lucrative part of the online advertising market.

Northrop Grumman Expects To Lay Off 642 Workers

PASCAGOULA, Miss. (AP) — Northrop Grumman Corp. plans to lay off 642 workers at its Pascagoula shipyard by the end of the year, the company said. The first 292 affected workers were notified Wednesday under a federal law requiring 60 days notice of layoffs that affect 500 or more people.

HP Secures $135 Million Tech Services Contract

PALO ALTO, Calif. (AP) — Technology company Hewlett-Packard Co. said Tuesday it has received a $135 million, eight-year technology services contract from the Alabama Medicaid Agency. The contract, HP said, extends its 30-year relationship with Alabama's Medicaid agency, which oversees the Medicaid program for more than 900,000 state residents each year.

Feds Consider Jeep Grand Cherokee Recall

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Federal safety officials have opened an investigation of 3 million Jeep Grand Cherokees over concerns that defective fuel tanks could cause fires in crashes. The investigation is in response to allegations made last year by an auto safety group that the placement of the gas tank behind the rear bumper and below the rear axle could make the SUV vulnerable to spillage during a rear end crash.

Former Koss Exec to Be Sentenced For Embezzlement

MILWAUKEE (AP) — The sentencing for a former Koss Corp. executive accused of embezzling about $34 million has been postponed a month to November. Sujata "Sue" Sachdeva agreed in July to plead guilty to all six felony frauds counts against her. She's also agreed to pay an estimated $34 million in restitution to Koss Corp.

Mitsubishi, GE Trade Accusations Over Business Practices

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — A federal judge in Arkansas is delaying an antitrust lawsuit by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries against General Electric Corp. Judge Leon Holmes on Monday granted GE's motion to stay until a patent-infringement lawsuit by GE against Mitsubishi is resolved. Mitsubishi accuses GE of monopolizing part of the wind-turbine market and making "baseless" patent-infringement claims to gain a competitive edge.

DOVER, Del. (AP) — Taiwanese flat-panel display maker Chimei Innolux has filed a lawsuit in Delaware expanding its patent-infringement dispute with Sony. The federal lawsuit filed Monday accuses Sony Corp. of violating three patents owned by Chimei Innolux Corp. in the manufacturing of products including televisions, notebook computers and Cyber-shot digital cameras.

Toshiba Takes 3-D To The Next Level

TOKYO (AP) — Japanese electronics maker Toshiba Corp. said Tuesday it is developing technology for a 3-D television that won't require special glasses. Company spokeswoman Yuko Sugahara confirmed such technology was in the works. But she declined to comment on a report in the Yomiuri newspaper that the Tokyo-based company plans to start selling the new TVs by the end of the year.
