iPhone App Thwarts A Robbery Attempt

There seems to be an iPhone app for everything these day. One Dallas-area man says the $5 "iCam" iPhone app helped him thwart a robbery attempt at his residence -- from 1,500 miles away. The app notified him of the break-in and he called 911 immediately. The police arrived within minutes and were able to apprehend the would-be robbers.

Consumer Confidence Improves Slightly In August

NEW YORK (AP) -- Americans' confidence in the economy improved slightly in August, but the mood is still gloomy amid job worries, according to a monthly survey. The Conference Board said Tuesday that its Consumer Confidence Index improved slightly to 53.5, up from a revised 51.0 in July.

Ousted HP CEO Continues Retreat From Public Eye

NEW YORK (AP) — Mark Hurd, who was ousted as CEO of Hewlett Packard Co. following allegations of sexual harassment, will not run for re-election to News Corp.'s board of directors. News Corp. said Tuesday the decision for the 53-year-old not to run at the company's Oct. 15 annual shareholder meeting was made after discussions with Hurd.

HP Developing Next Wave Of Computer Chips
